Foundations of Photography Class
Who This Class Is For
This class is for true beginners who want to better understand their camera and feel more confident using it. It’s a great fit for anyone who owns a DSLR or mirrorless camera and is ready to move beyond auto mode, but isn’t quite sure where to start. Whether you’re brand new to photography or have been taking pictures for a while without really understanding the settings, this workshop is designed to give you a solid, practical foundation in a relaxed environment.
What to Expect
This workshop is designed for true beginners, so no prior experience is needed. The first half of the class will focus on learning, with simple, practical instruction on camera settings, exposure, and understanding how your camera works. After a lunch break, we’ll come back for the hands-on portion of the day, where students will put what they’ve learned into practice with guided shooting. The class is relaxed, beginner-friendly, and kept small so there’s plenty of time for questions and personal guidance.
❋ Intentional StructureThis workshop is designed with a clear flow so beginners don’t feel overwhelmed. The first half of the day focuses on simple, practical instruction covering camera basics, settings, and exposure. After a lunch break, we move into a guided hands-on shooting session so students can apply what they’ve learned right away.

Merits & Credits
Attendees of this class will be eligible to receive PPA merits and APPA credits that may be applied toward eligible degrees and fellowships. This workshop is designed to provide both practical beginner education and recognized professional development for photographers who are building their knowledge and working toward long-term goals within the industry.

Where to go
The class will be held at our studio at 200 South Rhodes, Suite D, West Memphis, AR. Our entrance faces Polk Street. When you arrive, come in through the double glass doors and you’ll find our studio as the first door on the left—you’ll know you’re in the right place because there’s wall art all around it.
